Mayfair’s Flower Show | Sketch, London

Last days to visit the Mayfair’s first Flower Show at sketch in London. Honouring Chelsea’s horticultural event, five exhibitors are set to install their gardens at 9 Conduit Street from 17th to 29th May. Each exhibitor will celebrate the British Landscape and explore their personal relationship with sketch whilst showcasing their craft, passion and dedication to the environment.

Exhibit 1 - Hinterland «The Flower Appreciation Society»
What was once a regimented estate entrance has now left nature to take its course. The abandoned entrance way, once decadent is sketch’s wild welcome.
Exhibit 2 - Midnight into Titania’s Garden
Through the wilderness to a romantic hideaway... Spring has truly sprung, flowers in full bloom. The explosion of colour resembles that of an Impressionist’s mural.
Exhibit 3 - Champagne Pommery Lounge - sketch in bloom «JamJar» (upper photo)
An enchanted forest, a suspended garden, an upside down meadow, a retreat at the heart of the show.
Exhibit 4 - Ladies & Gentlemen «JamJar»
Everything but a garden: A breath of fresh «Hair»
Exhibit 5 - The space between trees «Carly Rogers Flowers»
Drawing on the horizon and defying gravity, this garden protects the landscape, providing a comforting blanket for the earth beneath.

Supported by Champagne Pommery, sketch’s Mayfair Flower Show is a story of two tales; whilst some of the gardens display high-contrast and vivid tones, others have opted for natural greens in all shades and sizes. Top trends amongst the exhibitors include P. Fern, Birch Trees, Roses, Foxgloves and Lily of the Valley...
For the duration of the event, guests could enjoy a floral Afternoon Tea,  a floral inspired lunch menu featuring flowers in all three courses created by masterchef Pierre Gagnaire and a Champagne tasting in the Champagne Pommery Lounge.

sketch’s home, 9 Conduit Street, was designed by James Wyatt in 1779 and has previously been the headquarters of the Royal Institute of British Architects before later becoming the London Atelier of Christian Dior.
sketch was inaugurated in 2002 by restaurateur Mourad Mazouz and three Michelin starred chef Pierre Gagnaire, as a destination for food, art and music and continues to contribute to the building’s heritage as a destination for experimentation in design, art and architecture.
The site consists of the Lecture Room & Library, the Parlour, the Glade, the East Bar, and the Gallery (upper photo) designed by India Mahdavi.
Over the past decade, due to Mazouz’s commitment to art and design, the venue has hosted over fifty exhibitions of artists’ moving image including work by Carsten Nicolai, John Baldessari, Jonas Mekas, Mary Ellen Bute, Martin Creed and David Shrigley.
